The Pliger family has been producing grapes in the Valle Isacro region of Alto Adige (home to just 25 producers), when this territory still belonged to the Austro Hungarian empire. The biodynamic estate focuses primarily on Riesling, Veltliner, and Sylvaner, and is widely considered a benchmark for these varieties both in and outside of Italy.
